Key Points to Remember While Checking Your Balance

  • You must use the SASSA USSD code on the mobile phone number linked to your SASSA account to check your balance. You can only check your SASSA balance on a phone number linked to your account.
  • Depending on your mobile network provider, there may be a small fee for checking your Sassa balance using the USSD service. You can visit a SASSA office or an ATM for a free balance check.
  • Always keep your SASSA balance less than or equal to R624. If SASSA finds a balance exceeding R624 in your account, this will make you ineligible for the grant for that month. SASSA will also take back your grant money for that month.
