However, for those receiving SASSA grants, updating contact details is crucial to ensure seamless communication.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides various grants, including the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants, to support underprivileged citizens in the country.

Update SASSA Phone Number for Grants

To change your SASSA phone number, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the Official SASSA Website

  • Clear your browser cache and visit the official SASSA website using your computer or smartphone.
  • Type your ID card number in the username section and then enter the 6-digit special ID number issued by SASSA which is your App ID.

Step 2: Change Phone Number

  • Then press the ‘Submit’ button and you will be officially recognized as the authentic person required to change your phone number.
  • An option will pop up in front of you asking you to click on a specific button named ‘Change Phone Number’.
  • You will be asked to provide your new phone number, make sure your new number is also a registered phone number in your own name.

Step 3: Verify Your New Phone Number

  • On your new number, you will be notified with a special OTP (One-time Password) number. Enter this OTP number in the verification field and press ‘Verify Pin’.
  • After this you will again receive a notification from SASSA to confirm your phone number change request, just press the ‘Submit’ button.

How to Change SRD Phone Number Without Application ID

To change your Sassa Srd phone number without having your application ID, follow these steps:

  • Visit to official Sassa office nearest to your home with any your documents related to SASSA if have. You should also bring your national ID card and phone.
  • Simply talk to the representative at SASSA and ask that you want your Sassa phone number but you don’t have your application.
  • The Sassa representative will simply require your ID card and process your case, after this, he/she will ask about the new phone number you want to integrate with your Sassa application for verification.
  • Then the Sassa official will give you your phone number change request form to fill out.
  • Fill out this form completely and put your new number correctly.
  • Re-verify all the information in the form and submit it to SASSA, it’s done.
